27: The Heist by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
-The highest selling rap album from an independent release of all time is The Heist. To critique an historic album one must be careful with theirs words. So Shout out to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for making it “cool” to wear stuff from a thrift shop, its selfish but whatever that’s a big reason why I love the song. Furthermore, respect to them for openly endorsing gay marriage. Ok now time for the album as a whole. It’s very hit and miss but when it hits, it hits, hard. “Can’t Hold Us (feat. Ray Dalton)”, “Thrift Shop (feat. Wanz)”, “Same Love (feat. Mary Lambert), Make the Money”, and “Jimmy Iovine (feat. Ab-Soul)” all are phenomenal and are potentials for top tracks of the year. Macklemore provides some of the cleverest rhymes of the year and Ryan Lewis comes through with some better beats but I feel bad for Owuor Arunga. Who? Owuor Arunga the trumpeter will never get the recognition he deserve for his hooks. One last thing. Do me a favor, go watch the Thrift Shop” music video. Who is that black dude on the back between Macklemore & Ryan Lewis? Sir Thomas Gray of Champagne Champagne aka #15 on the list.
