Before you freak out just remember this is MY opinion. That being said if you have an opinion you’d like to express go for it, comment or whatever just be civil about it or i wont bother to read. Thanks again for checking out my list had happy holidays
1: Lex Hives By The Hives
-The mystery of Randy Fitzimmons continues (google it). The album is just over 30 minutes but it also just over 30 minutes of near perfection. Whatever I’m tired of writing here is the list of my favorite songs, each with it’s own individual awesomeness.
“Come On”, “Go Right Ahead”, “1000 Hours”, “I Want More”, “Wait A Minute”, “Patrolling Days”, “Take Back The Toys”, “Without The Money”, “These Spectacles Reveal The Nostalgics”, “My Time Is Coming”, “If I Had A Cent”, and “Midnight Shifter”.
PS that’s every song on the album.
3: La Bala by Ana Tijoux
-I have no clue what she’s saying but I love it. Really La Bala has the best flows, best rhymes (I looked a lot up), and the most perfectly diverse beats of the year. Shock is the most passionate song I’ve heard in forever. If you don’t like Spanish you’re fucked, good thing I love it.
4: The Money Store by Death Grips
–Industrial post-rap gods Death Grips comes thru in the clutch. It’s the best music for raging, period. Some of you will hate it, guaranteed. Some people will call it garbage or noise but I ask that if you won’t listen, at least read the lyrics. MC Ride has some of the most paranoid, schizophrenic, and beautifully written lyrics I have ever heard. Also the album cover might freak you a bit but just listen. “Get Got”, and “I’ve Seen Footage” are best for beginners.
6: EP By Skinny Lister
-Take Shirley Manson of Garbage, then add the melody of Mumford and Sons, with the best of Flogging Molly and there you have Skinny Lister, folk at it’s best. Before I go on I must confess I’m not sure if the EP I have is from 2012 but whatever. Ok moving on, all the songs are golden and the band members are even better in real life. So much love.
